What it actually is
In plain terms
BIAB stands for “Builder In A Bottle” — a flexible gel that's brushed directly onto your natural nail (or a short extension tip) in thin layers and cured under a UV/LED lamp. Unlike acrylic, which is a powder-and-liquid shell glued on top of the nail, BIAB is built up in place on your own nail bed.
The result feels and looks much closer to a natural nail — glossy, lightweight, and flexible enough to move with your nail instead of sitting rigid on top of it. That's why technicians sometimes call it “gel with training wheels”: it adds real, everyday strength without disguising your nail underneath.
How it feels
Light and flexible, closer to a natural nail than acrylic or a hard gel overlay.
How long it lasts
Around 3 weeks before a refill, as your nail grows out underneath the gel.
Removal
Soaks off gently — no harsh filing needed, unlike acrylic.
Who it's perfect for

- ✦Anyone who wants stronger nails but finds acrylic too thick or heavy
- ✦A natural, elegant everyday look rather than obvious added length
